Worship & Music

Do you ever wonder what makes music in the Church so important? Why devote so much time, effort and money in the music we use in our worship services? I came across a quote that will help to put these two questions in perspective; "Music is 'take away theology', we both reflect and shape our theology by what we sing." Music is an important part of worship at Zion Covenant Church because it gives a voice to the belief system of the body that is singing.

Worship is giving God the glory he alone deserves. Music is one tool he has given us to help us do that. Both through example and command, Scripture shows us the vital role music plays in the worship of God. Psalm 66:2 says, “Sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!” Music is a gift from God, intended to assist us as we develop and deepen our relationship with Him.

The Music and Worship Ministry of Zion Covenant Church looks to train and deploy musicians who will humbly and skillfully serve God’s purposes for and through the church. We also want to equip the church in general musical knowledge that will enhance the use of music in glorifying God.

Music at Zion takes on many different perspective's - we offer a dedicated Hand Bell choir which plays a range of music from moderate to advanced, incorporating special effects and techniques within each piece. This group is a combination of players from Zion Covenant Church and St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Provide music in worship seasonally and at various additional times throughout the year.

The Covenant Senior Choir provides music for worship services on a rotating basis and provides seasonal cantatas and special music for worship services throughout the year.

The Covenant Praise Team provides praise and worship music for our contemporary services. This team includes vocalists, keyboard, guitars, bass, auxiliary percussion and drum set.
